Sadaf General-Purpose Basecoat Gypsum Plaster is designed for the initial plaster coat on interior walls and ceilings. When mixed with water, it forms a smooth, workable paste and provides a suitable base for finishing plaster or a compatible final coating.
Recommended Applications
- Basecoat application on brickwork, blockwork and suitably prepared cementitious surfaces
- Filling surface irregularities and carrying out local repairs before the finishing coat
- Levelling interior walls and ceilings in dry areas
- General interior masonry and repair work, subject to substrate compatibility
Key Benefits and Properties
- Good workability for manual application and basecoat shaping
- Good adhesion to clean, stable substrates with controlled suction
- Helps create an even base for the finishing coat
- Can be sanded and corrected after drying, depending on the application method
- Light, consistent appearance suitable for subsequent finishing
Application Guidelines
- Ensure that the surface is sound, clean and free from dust, oil, flaking paint, efflorescence and loose particles.
- Pour clean water into a clean container, then sprinkle the powder gradually onto the water.
- Allow the powder to soak, then mix until a smooth, uniform paste is obtained. Do not add fresh plaster or additional water once the mix has started to set.
- Apply and level the plaster within the recommended thickness and before the end of its workable time.
- Once the basecoat has set and dried sufficiently, prepare the surface for the finishing plaster.
Limitations and Non-Recommended Uses
- Not recommended for external facades, permanently damp surfaces, bathrooms, or areas subject to continuous direct contact with water.
- Do not apply to frozen, excessively hot, contaminated or unstable surfaces, or to substrates with active movement or cracking.
- Where the required build exceeds the permitted thickness for a single coat, use a multi-coat application or a suitable background preparation system.
Packaging, Storage and Handling
- Available in bags or bulk bags, depending on the product grade and order requirements.
- Store bags on pallets, away from damp floors and walls, and protect them from moisture.
- Keep the product in a dry, covered and well-ventilated storage area.
- Shelf life should be stated in accordance with Sadaf stability testing and the applicable packaging conditions.
