How Quicklime Is Produced
Extraction and Crushing: Limestone is extracted from quarries and crushed into smaller, manageable pieces.
Calcination: The crushed limestone is heated in a kiln above 825°C, decomposing it into quicklime and carbon dioxide. Rotary and vertical shaft kilns are the most common types used.
Cooling and Storage: The quicklime is cooled using air or water, then stored in silos or sealed facilities to protect it from moisture.
Quality Control: Throughout production, the limestone and resulting quicklime are tested for chemical composition and purity to ensure consistent quality.
